Members of the St. Joseph Parish Catholic Men Organization on Dec9 joined Catholics across the country to journey to our Lady Queen of Peace Shrine in Virginia outside Monrovia.

The 2023 annual pilgrimage brought together hundreds of thousands of parishioners across the country to pray for peace and personal intentions to the Lord our God.

During the event, the Diocesan Administrator of the Archdiocese of Monrovia urged the country’s newly elected political leadership to make Liberia a better place that provides equal opportunities.

Rev. Monsignor Gabriel Blamo Jubwe implored the incoming Joseph Boakai’s administration to lean from errors of the past and avoid corruption and injustice.

He reinforced the Church’s zero tolerance stance for abortion and same sex life.

Speaking Saturday during the Catholic Church annual Pilgrimage to Our Lady Queen of Peace Shrine in Virginia, Monsignor Jubwe urged Catholics across the country to pray for peace, reconciliation and unity.

“We have come to pray for the special grace of God that we will not return to dark days of disappointment, despair and uncertainty, he said in a homily marking the celebration of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“Pray that the new face of the country will be the face of opportunity, progress. Correct your mistakes.  Make it better.  Make Liberia better.

“This country is God’s own country.  Let’s not continue to dirty it with corruption, stealing,  cheating,  insincerity,  injustice, violations of the fundamental rights of people. Killing of the innocent, the unborn.

“This is the time for us as Catholics to bend on our knees and pray through our Blessed Mother for forgiveness and peace.

“You must be prolife. We will fight to the end to protect life of the unborn.  No to abortion. No to sensuality education.  No to all of those things that are contrary to our Catholic faith.

“Yes to life. Yes to good values. Yes to marriage.”
